While reading your comments tonight, I just remembered that I did not tell you how I came to know and love
Juliette Benzoni's "Catherine series" As a young girl, I lived in Canada - and worked in my summer holidays, in a bookstore. I always wondered what was so "special" about these books called
Catherine - where the book cover was for those times "daring"
Only when I returned to Switzerland did I find out, that the books were originally in French - and how absolutely outstanding they were! I belong to the first generation who read the books - which means I had to wait years until I could go on to learn what happened to our heroine
and since I did not speak French, I had to wait till the books were translated
in the meantime I had called my son "Michel" naturally never telling my husband where I got that name (remember, I live in the German part of Switzerland)
I read the "
Marianne" le Gerfaut, and the
Fiora series..would you believe I had to "read the last two books of Fiora in French? They were never translated
! Anyway..it is great to know that after all these years these books still have so many admirers - and that we have a Forum where we can talk about it.
By the way...I just saw that on www.youtube.com there is a little homage on "
Catherine - One love is enough...I thought it was beautiful..
